School keeps on giving and my first Merc!!! Need help with a hallmark.

1923 Merc Dime, 1951D quarter and about $12.00 in clad on top of some wheaties and the 1950D dime.

The question is the Sterling painted front pin. The hallmark is tough to make out but it is an L inside of the small field. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like some nice finds maybe. Pictures of coins in holders is one of my pet peeves tho =) No flash and daylight usually helps get better photos too. I lIke the pin wish could see it better =)
