Scored a intact 1860's whiskey bottle

I got rained out at work and was already soaked to the bone so I decided to swing by one of my sites , to muddy to detect and steady rain so I remember the owner during the summer had mentioned a old bottle dump her father and grand father used to dump all there bottles there . I couldnt find it during the summer becuase of the dence tree's . So I walked the edge of the field and I spot some bottles and near a pile of rocks and followed the bottles back into the tree's where the first sight was a atlas e-z cage mason aqua green as I sorted through some of the bottles on top I look over and there this beauty was nosed down in the dirt I pulled it up and it was intact WHITNEYS GLASS WORKS , with the word Patent on the shoulder , so that was good for me and decided to call it as it raining even harder . THANKS FOR LOOKING !

WHITNEY GLASS WORKS--1882-1918---GLASSBORO NEW JERSEY---COOL FIND

Whitney Glass Works is much earlier than 1882. I have seen Whitney Glass Works whiskey bottles dug out of Civil War huts. I have Civil War whiskey bottles from both the Whitney Glass Works and the Dyottville Glass Works, both dug at DIV hunts at Stoneman's Switch.
Old South Jersey Glass and Bottles , more facts and photos Brief History of Glassmaking in Glassboro N.j.

Nice find! If you found that bottle there, there may be other older bottles under the newer stuff.

I think it was WHITNEY BROTHERS GLASSWORKS from 1838-1882, then in 1882 became whitney glassworks--sorry for the confusion.

Very nice whiskey. If thy was on the top then you may have a gold mine there. I personally would rather dig bottles like that than metal detect any day. Keep us posted please if you start digging. HH

Awesome whiskey bottle!!!

Nice patent whiskey!

The only thing I like better that digging an old coin is digging an old bottle!

Very nice find

Thanks for all the kind reply's . I was thinking about swinging by there this after noon with a shovel and some digging tools the property has alot of history ive found coins there from the late 1700's so hopefully i will be able to pull out some bottles and goodies from the site . I will try to film when im there it so everyone can see . And I will take a few day light pictures of the bottle and post later.
