:cross:
I run into small amounts of nickle when metal detecting (i think). Is there a market? how can you tell for sure if its nickle. Thanks for the help in advance. also how about mercury from old t stats.

Nickel is rarely used by itself for anything, but rather as an alloying element. The higher end stainless steels use nickel, most exotic alloys used in oil and aerospace will have nickel, and even silverplate will have nickel.

Nickel itself is magnetic, but when used in an alloy it may or may not be. The best way to check for nickel will be to use the spark test, with which nickel identifies by showing red sparks.

Best of Luck!
