I was able to take the Nox 800 with on a business trip to Ft. Lauderdale, FL this week for a couple of evening Beach hunts.

The first hunt was at Haulover Park Beach for about an hour and a half. Went right to the wet sand which was completely sanded in and full of sea grass and seaweed. So I quickly moved to the towel line, which was extremely trashy with pull tabs and bottle caps. I stayed in Beach 2 but bumped the recovery speed from 5 to 6 and nudged out a silver pendant (no idea what language is printed on it).

The second hunt last night was at Hollywood Beach for about two and a half hours. I started off at the towel line and after about an hour headed down to the surf line (it was about 2 hours until low tide) and worked the wet sand with recovery speed 5. Immediately there were coin targets all over so I started focusing on low and high conductors. Ended up digging some kind of ring, an old silver earring, and a bunch of nickels and quarters.

Nice saves. Seems its working for you so don't mess with success, but I have been using Beach 1 with some success sll the way to the tide line and wasn't planning on Beach 2 until I got myself abd the machine above ankle deep water/surf. Was going solely by the mode descriptions in the manual (Beach 1 for dry/wet sand, Beach 2 for surf). But if it ain't broke... HH

The pendant is in Hebrew, I believe.

Edit: The image is the Snapchat logo.

Thanks vferrari. I experimented with Beach 1 a few weeks ago but felt that Beach 2 was seeing targets deeper, even in the dry sand. Maybe the sand at this time of year holds a lot more moisture than summer and fall, which makes it more like wet sand? So I failed to mention it in the initial post, but when I went from dry to wet sand (or wet to dry) I would noise cancel and ground balance each time. I also ran sensitivity down to 19. It ran very quiet. I literally stopped digging VIDs 17-23 to focus on silver and gold. My nickel count for one day was the best ever at 11. All of them were dug the last hour and a half at the surf line. Anyone of them could have been a gold ring. Heart breakers.

I will have to ask someone that knows Hebrew what it says?

Thanks.

You did well, congratulations! :occasion14:

Yeah, that's odd it was deeper because the manual says the transmit power of beach 2 is reduced vs. Beach 1 and the other modes, that's why I was avoiding it except for salt water use (submerged coil).

Maybe its like the sifter program with the Deus?

I'm sure that I will go back to using Beach 1 at some point.

Very similar although I believe it depicts the Hamsa hand versus the Snapchat ghost logo.

I'm not Jewish and I don't speak Hebrew but it is called the Shema prayer.

That’s a really good point. You might be right. Turning down sensitivity definitely has its advantages under certain conditions. I am going to give Beach 2 a go out of the water at my next beach run, certainly doe not look like there is much downside to doing so.
