Today I got 60 penny rolls from the bank, along with weird looks from the teller. I came out with 10 wheat pennies and 12 Canadian pennies! The wheat penny dates are:
1957 D
1957 D
1957 D
1953
1952 D
1945
1945 D
1944
1941
1940 - this one's pretty much totally green
The Canadian penny dates range from 1999 to 1954...

(I had to reduce the picture to this size just to make it small enough to upload..... :-\)

Don't forget about checking half dollars too. It can be a little tough to find a bank that has a lot of them in rolls, but if you can, check for the occasional 1964 silver half, and especially the 1965, 66, 67, 68, 69 and 70 silver clad halves (40% silver).
In 1970, they were not silver.

Yes, the 1970 half dollars were still 40% silver.

Ouch!
1970 half dollars are 40% silver, but only mint set and proof halves were made that year.

"......Kennedy half dollars of 1965 through 1970 have a 40% silver content. The 1970 half dollar was not released for public circulation, so any specimen of it would be a mishandled collector's coin or one which had accidentally
been placed in circulation. A coin-collection is stolen and the coins are just spent as regular coins, especially by teenagers who do not know their numismatic value. Sometimes these teenagers just snitch a coin or two and go for a malted at the local drug store or malt shop. So always watch all your coins.

These 1970 half dollars command a sizeable premium.

Half dollars after 1970 have no silver in them with the exception of the proof and mint sets (which were not put into
circulation - they were for collectors only.)..........."

Good luck finding one though. :)

I found 2 1970 silver halves last year and around 15 regular proofs. I know a lot of other people on this forum have found silver proofs from other years as well. They aren't as rare to find in circulation as some people believe.
