It appears to be an old massager / weight loss machine.
I seem to remember them as a kid. Do the spindles rotate when you turn it on?
Yes. It has a tension adjustment to the belt. Was thinking it could be torn apart and rebuilt as a small trommel sifter.

Yeah I think I remember it as a massager.

So on a long shot, does anyone know what this machine is for? It is $50 and I can't find results or a manual anywhere. It has a good 1/4 horse motor but before thinking about modifying things I'd like to know the original purpose.
As others have mentioned it is a massage machine, here's a link to one that sold recently on eBay, it has a sightly different model number but looks much the same other than color, I believe from the model numbers yours is a little later model.

It sold for $399.99, if I were you I would put it on eBay to see if it sells for close to that!!!

Yup a vintage massage machine. A health club my mother belonged to in the early 1970’s had one of those. Like the massager would break up your fat globules or something. 🤣 My sister and I always got in trouble for playing on them when we weren’t;t allowed access into the weight floor. Good times!
