Searched a tobacco field today that we had hunted several times before. The field flooded last week and has had time to set up a good halo around objects since it was last disced. Started off with the buckle, then found 3 flat buttons dating to the early 1800's, my first clay pipe stem, a very old marble, a possible hasp to a jewelry box, and an 1838 seated half dime. This afternoon a guy came by the house looking for his dog and gave me permission to hunt a house on his farm dating to the 1850's. Yeah!

Congrats on the seated dime! That one is on my wish list.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a half dime. When did they start making nickles? Very cool finds !!

Nice half dime and relics ! :o Some of those blue willow , China shards are older than the 1850's. The blue feathered edge piece is 1700's..more than likely, you will find some more early 1800 stuff , "large cent dirt", on that farm :icon_pirat: Good luck, CMDdawg

wtg on the buttons. Nice half dime I've only gotten one of these. :icon_thumright:
