I was working an old house site that had produced a barber quarter last year. This year was soybeans so the field was perfectly flat. I found a 1918 walker the day before and was back for more. For some reason I decided to hunt right where the field meets the edge of the road. I usually avoid this close to the road edge because of all the can slaw. I got a high tone and popped out a large coin and thought it was probably another walker. I couldn't tell what it was so I put it away and headed to the truck as it was about dark. When I got to the truck, I looked at it more closely and not wanting to rub it, of course, I dabbed it with, you guessed it, spit! Then I saw that it was a seated half. Hope you enjoy the pics! walking liberty side a.webpwalking liberty side b.webpuncleaned side a.webpuncleaned side b.webpside a.webpside b.webpgood side a.webpgoode side bb.webpclose up side a.webp

That is one gorgeous coin Mark, hardly ever see them come up on the forum. Beautiful condition too. And a Walker, two halfs from the same area, looking forward to your next posts, congratulations!

Thanks! The detail blew me away as well!

Two halves in two days- incredible! That Seated looks like it left the bank and was lost within minutes- Huge Congrats!

Two silver halves in the same field. Congrats. That seated half is in really good shape too.

I agree. I was thinking a centennial celebration and junior gets a coin that ends up lost in the front yard.

I got a 2 cent piece, same place, also on the first day. Funny how the half dollars got posted and not that one. :dontknow:

AWESOME! Congratulations!:headbang:

Thats a beauty and those aint easy to find. Nice addition to your collection.....

I've trying different settings with my AT Max that seems to be working well for me. If anyone want's to try something different. I used the 8.5 x 11 stock dd coil. The iron descrim set at 28 with sensitivity all the way and iron audio off. And dig just the repeating signals. I've been pulling small pewter buttons and otherwise missed stuff with the iron descrim low at 28. Don't know why but its working. Good hunting!

Very nice condition on a hard to find coin. I like seeing the fresh dug dirt clotting on the surfaces, it helps put it in perspective as a dug coin. Thanks for doing that, wish more folks did it.

Thanks, I think it's important to get that pic before it's changed in any way. With this coin, I put it in the fold of a water saturated clean wash cloth and let it soak. Then I ran it under tap water but not wiping it in any way. A gentle spray with the sink sprayer. After that there was still dirt caked in between the lettering. I used a saturated q-tip in a vertical gentle dabbing motion being careful not to go sideways till the remaining dirt dissipated. Only clean water no soap. After that I put her to bed.

Congrats on the crisp half, a real beauty.

Beautiful coin, congrats! :notworthy:
