I was working an old house site that had produced a barber quarter last year. This year was soybeans so the field was perfectly flat. I found a 1918 walker the day before and was back for more. For some reason I decided to hunt right where the field meets the edge of the road. I usually avoid this close to the road edge because of all the can slaw. I got a high tone and popped out a large coin and thought it was probably another walker. I couldn't tell what it was so I put it away and headed to the truck as it was about dark. When I got to the truck, I looked at it more closely and not wanting to rub it, of course, I dabbed it with, you guessed it, spit! Then I saw that it was a seated half. Hope you enjoy the pics! walking liberty side a.webpwalking liberty side b.webpuncleaned side a.webpuncleaned side b.webpside a.webpside b.webpgood side a.webpgoode side bb.webpclose up side a.webp

Beautiful full LIBERTY Seated Half and the Walker is not too shabby a find either! :occasion14:

Thanks for all the replies! Good Hunting!

Gorgeous Seated Half! That looks fantastic for a farm field silver. One of my favorite US coin designs.

Outstanding - what a beautiful coin - congrats ! :occasion14:

Spectacular finds that indicate your expertise and experience in coin hunting and putting your coil over high potential productive ground. Your success re-affirms my belief that researching the areas history is key to finding high potential productive hunting sites. I already have my Dance Moves and Victory Yells practiced and down pat, if and when I ever make finds as nice as those. LOL

Thank you for the compliment! You will! Your right about the research thou on my part. The field is part of a town that no longer exists. At least above ground. We live in a time where we have so much information at our finger tips. Old maps, documented history, and state of the art equipment. It's an exciting time that we live in when you think of it that way. It sounds to me like your already a few swings away from something really awesome! When you think about it thou, everything you pull out of the ground that's 100, or 250 years old is really awesome! It's proof that people lived in these areas. That's what makes it worthwhile to me. Learning about history and connecting with the people that lived before us! Best of luck to you my friend.

Heck of an awesome find! Congrats

The seated half is WAY up there on my bucket list. Congrats!

OUTSTANDING, not OUTSITTING!

See what I did there?

Nice find! I would have been on cloud nine after finding any silver half (it's been a little more than a year since my last)... not to mention two of them, including a PRISTINE seated. What a beaut.
