Got out for a quick hunt right down the road from where I live at a field I've pounded before. Deep plowed about a month ago so it certainly deserved another look. Thrilled to find another old silver coin.
Key date seated quarter (1858S) is dinged up but is the cut on the throat a premeditated defacing or should I more accurately say beheading?
It's certainly a deeper gouge than all the other imperfections on this coin. Could just be random but right at the throat? Hmmm.
