I started swinging when I was 13 and then got busy doing other things. After a few years I started again and the second time out I found a buckle! or something. I found it with my Classic ID, Old school but effective. It was about 8 inches down.

You should be very proud. :headbang: That is a Colonial shoe buckle. :headbang: I would go back to that site and hunt slowly. You should find some early buttons and coppers. :icon_thumleft:

While I agree that it's a great find, (and, I know next to nothing about Colonial buckles,) I am curious. Since a Morgan was used for size reference and I just happened to have a Morgan Dollar beside me, just how wide were shoe buckles?? A Morgan measures very close to 1 1/2" in diameter.
