IMG_2460.JPG IMG_2461.JPG IMG_2462.JPG IMG_2463.JPG IMG_2464.JPG IMG_2466.JPG The Conch shell horn came from West Virginia. The Boatstone was from Meadows of Dan Virginia and the pot was a purchase 35 years ago from a dealer from Ohio. It has a very crude repair to the lip seen in the first picture. I call it my Man in Heaven pot because of the face on either side with a breast on each side of the face. Yea, I'm a dirty old man.

It was from Ohio is what i was told. This dealer used to have a booth at the annual Hillsville Labor Day Flea Market and most of his booth was relics. Not the new fake artifacts that you would see at the other booths. He said it was dug out of a river bank and had a seriously chipped lip. His buddy dug it and did the crappy repair. That was the story that i got and the guy seemed honest. I spent a couple of hours in his booth every year talking relics and he didn't seem to exagerate or BS. The price was low enough that i couldn't see anyone faking one for that price. I knew several fake relic dealers back then and a pot like this would have been perfect and 5 times the price in any of their booths. I was set up at a flea market once when a fake relic dealer was set up across from me. He brought over 2 six inch dovetails and told me to price them at $100 each and gave me a story to go with them. I put them on my table with a sign that said "genuine Fake Indian Relics $10 each. They didn't sell while the guy across from me sold thousands of dollars worth of fakes. He was buying them for $1 an inch somewhere in Tennessee.
