I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but..............

It's been suggested that I should sell some of my pictures.

I have no idea what all is involved, or how to start, or if my pics are good enough. Any suggestions?

I've looked on-line & a lot of the sites are obvious ripoffs, so I'm a little nervous about it.

do it... by god ya won't know till ya try it..post some here in the classifieds under non treasure items... I am gonna list some of my jewelry there for sale..we both wont know till we try it... so lets both do it eh?

Writers Digest Publishers put out an annual book called, Photographers Market. This book not only has info on thousands of places that buy photos, but also has articles written by professionals on how-to sell, business tips, etc. It costs around $25 at any good bookstore. Most well equipped city libraries will have copies, too. Older copies are still valuable for the how-to articles. There is info an each buyer listing about who to contact, what they want, how much they pay, how-to contact them, etc. with telephone numbers, addresses, etc.

There is another book called, sellphotos.com , by Rohn Engh that is a guide to establishing a successful stock photo business on the internet. This guy has been around for YEARS. I have his first book, Sell and Re-Sell Your Photos that tells how to take photos that fit market needs. I have both books and they are excellent.

I think you should do it, but it takes ALOT of work and you cant jus sell anything it has to be good quality photos that if it werent you who took the shot you would buy it yourself. I suggest going to local art galleries with your portfolio and try to see if one of them will display your work. You also would need a good photo printer because kinkos doesnt exactly get you good quality. Then you need to figure out how to frame images if your gonna frame them yourself. Research how to mount pictures onto the mats, and add up the total expenses for your frames, glass, mats, backing. The best time to get your shots displayed is around a holiday so keep that in mind. hope it goes well GOOD LUCK! :icon_king:

Go to the listed web site below. You have to send 3 in to be judged sellable but they're pretty good folks and don't take much. Check out the site and listings, it might be worthwhile for you. I've sold some of my photography there.

I'm new at selling photo's also. I've noticed others selling prints at art & craft shows where I sell my woodworking projects.

We are planning on doing a few art shows this year, mainly selling my little woodwrking things. Thought I would try offering some of my photo prints while we are there.

Needed a web page for folks to look at after the show so my wife April put this page together for me. The prints look lots better than the web pics.
I have alot more pictures to put on but this is a start.
