I just got back from my second 2018 UK tour. I found three hammered coins again this time, including a King John I (1199-1216) and a Queen Elizabeth I Penny (1570s / double struck). One of my best relics was a quarter of an ounce round trade weight of James 1st circa 1603-25. The weight is of the 'stacking cup' type. The upper has the following stamped marks, the sword of St Paul, an ewer (the London Founders mark), and a crowned 'I' to denote James 1st. Below is a collage I created highlighting the trip.

OUTSTANDING assortment of finds Ken. Thanks for sharing...

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I like the short-cross series, as I don't get too many of them. King John had some amazing looking coins.
The Pan/Trade Weight is cool, nice to get the full verification marks.

Totally amazing group of ancient coins.

Some real nice old coin saves Ken. Congrats

Nice! My turn is next month.

all kidding aside I've been looking at detecting holidays for awhile now. Just gotta save up a butt load of cash, or make something to sell. Anyone need something made by a starving artist ?

I see where your going with this, and yes I will pay you to take me detecting:laughing7:
Nope, your too much hassle....lol

Serious, just curious, not heading anywhere with it.

It will be my 3rd trip. So much fun.........and hard work! :icon_thumleft:

he is one of the members that every time I see him post I get a little jealous and angry, then I calm down and drool over his finds. haha

check out metaldetcting holidays website. I think it would probably cost me about 3000 for the trip when all is said and done. i think they say starting at 1500 or something like that. they arrange export license for finds and all sorts of stuff.
