I just got back from my second 2018 UK tour. I found three hammered coins again this time, including a King John I (1199-1216) and a Queen Elizabeth I Penny (1570s / double struck). One of my best relics was a quarter of an ounce round trade weight of James 1st circa 1603-25. The weight is of the 'stacking cup' type. The upper has the following stamped marks, the sword of St Paul, an ewer (the London Founders mark), and a crowned 'I' to denote James 1st. Below is a collage I created highlighting the trip.

I will depend on who is running your particular tour. Some hosts include more (or different) amenities. The one I'm using is $1900 plus air fare, 1st night lodging at the airport, and 3-4 nights restaurant meals. Naturally, you'll have to pay for your own "liquid pain killer" (AKA booze) and souvenirs. I figure my total cost is around $3500.....less if I could get a better deal on the flight! :BangHead:

Great finds! I like that trade weight.

This made me laugh, look what those that don't understand our hobby have to say about what you do!

Hi Crusader . I believe that some question the price against what is really found .Considering you can get a licence in Australia which costs 15 dollars US for year and metaldetect for gold in regional , state and national parks in an area 7 times the size of the UK. Find a 100 oz nugget and leave the country with few questions. This also allows to other minerals and gemstones .Free camping grounds and more options . Compare the price TP

Everyone has the choice. Detecting is free with permission. Only organised Rallies cost about £10-15 a day, but I rarely do them, only for the odd social. It's worth whats someones willing to pay & plenty pay it, so the demand is there. Honestly, the export licence process & documentation in hard-copy triplicate is a lot of time & effort, so to me that is what your paying for. But you could do it yourself with the right knowledge.

Looks like it was a very nice trip. Those are some great finds.

Hi, I am talking about public land , I have no need to ask a land owner. The public land goes into 1000,s of square miles in my state alone.Yes some areas have restrictions and the laws are basic. Law enforcement has no say in the Miners Right. This a Constitutional State Freedom that can only be revoked by an Act of Parliament TP

Got you, interesting how different the Laws are.

Then theres the land between the farm and the road on both sides. On most rural roads the the strip is a acre wide and with more than one third of population living in transit becauuse of the lack of man power and the vast distances to travel before the invention of motor cars. Even with a rail system still the counrty is to big. Horses and wagons only travel so far on a give day. Thats millions camp sites of different types untouched. TP
