Serving Platter and 'Refinds'

Headed back to my truck with my best find in my coat pocket, a Handblown blue bottle, slipped on some road ice & smashed it to bits :'( no bloodshed :D
Made it home with a large copper platter, attached brass handles & trim, no makers mark, doesn't show signs of being plated.
Another old brass thermostat.
Another coin bank, Almost a duplicate of one found a while back, different bank & style, but almost identicle, inside the mud were 5 cylinders of a hard material
in coin sizes :icon_scratch:
Another large brass tag with Anchor & "CR"
A whatsit, brass end pieces with flexible tubing.
reminds me of the 1920s Riess water pipe shown, but maybe part of a 'medical/health' device. :dontknow:
Better Finds Coming !!
thanks for looking & HH

Re: Serving Platter and 'Refinds'

Wow cool finds. That little bank is pretty neat.

Maybe the cylindrical things were just some kind of place holders until coins were put in it? :dontknow:

Re: Serving Platter and 'Refinds'

I like the brass valve tags with the anchor stamp ! The platter is nice too ! Good finds again Herbie ! M.R.

Re: Serving Platter and 'Refinds'

Very cool finds. You are probably right, a lot more stuff to find there! Sorry about the blue bottle.
Thanks for posting,
Bunker

That last pic....Victorian bong? :headbang:

Bong or hookah; guess it depends on what you smoked :laughing7:

The coin banks are dated to about 1910-ish.

Nice finds !

Re: Serving Platter and 'Refinds'

Looks like you had a hookah of a good time. Sorry the bottle didn't make it to the truck. What are the odds??? Nice digs, I like that silly marble... Arty

Thanks All
Came down off the snowbank at 4:30, took a step, & boom! shovel,
Etrac, & bucket of finds go flying :o
had the bottle in my hoodie pocket, was disappointed, but happily didn't injure myself or the Etrac.
The Hookah/bong is as much a mystery as the 'whatsit' dug items,
I included it because of similarity in the tubing and fittings.
Stamped 'Reiss Premier Pipes', A popular maker of conventional pipes, able to find a lot of info and regular Reiss smoking pipes for sale, but not one reference on web searches, pipe collectors websites etc, about a Reiss 'water pipe' or 'hookah' ever existing :icon_scratch:
Anyone seen or heard of this?
good day & best digs to You All

Thanks Bob, probably the case, when dug, this bank was almost completely encased im black iron remains, I think it's base was iron & had spring mechanisms for holding the coins in place, have a total of 5 dug brass coin banks, every one of them pried open ;D
hoping the next one will be packed with Silver :laughing7:
