Shaun7 Sunday's Finds..........

Shaun7 is having modem issues, so I'm posting his Sunday finds for him.

He battled though the weather all day & got some great finds.

Not sure how many scrappy romans (although one was pretty good), but about 5.

Best find was a 14th century Heraldic Stud (shield shaped with chequered pattern). It went on the horse leather of important families. Dad & I have only had about 3-4 of these. They are rarer than the Horse Pendants.

A very unusual Georgian Pipe Tamper with match strike on one end. I think early 18th Century due to the narrow head which went in the small clay pipe bowls.

Plus a nice 'S' shaped buckle.

Great finds Shaun, the buckle is just very nice! Not nice is your computer problems
and the snow thats hitting your country at this moment. At the moment that I am
writing this its snowing very heavy here, so no metal detecting either, even though
I saw a pretty nice to search yesterday! The Lobo is doing its job!

Nice finds Shaun, love the buckle - but how did you manage to get out? Is it not all frozen where you are? I'd planned to have an all-day hunt today and last Monday but have had to cancel both! Getting so annoyed - not had chance to try out the Lobo yet!

Just about to post Cru'dads winter finds. The Lobo will be great for you  Ses. in the red (if soil will allow) & discrim no higher than 3, but 2 for normal running.

Re: Shaun7 Sunday's Finds..........

Thank you both for the advice - Weather permitting I'm in Whitby this coming weekend, I'll try the Lobo on the beach (don't need permission for that do I?) There and the beaches at Robin Hood's Bay - It'll make a change from coming home with bags of Fossils!

Beach detecting uses different technology (pulse, instead of electro-magnetic). The wet salty conditions mess with the electro-magnetic field. So you can do the dry sand, & try the wet (but probably will get limited success). Read the manual which you can find on line & see what it says about using it on a beach. Becuase I have not try beach detecting the Lobo.

David be sure to take along a spare detector, I have used the Lobo once or twice on the beach, but the salt water (if you are on that sort of beach) just messed up the detector. Maybe I could have used other settings to get it better, but instead used my White's water detector (Pulse induction, which has no problem with salt water).....

If its fresh water that you are going to you will have less problems of course.

Thanks Guys - Would I be better with the Laser B1 on the beach (I haven't given it back yet) - Or is that too similar to the Lobo to make any difference?
