My friend wanted to try her hand at hunting for points today and let’s just say I think she’s got a good eye! She found this on the creek bank of our farm today. Heartbreaking that it’s broken, but amazing find for her first time out!

Nice one , that’s an odd break for one of those points usually it’s the tip, the bases are pretty strong , does that bank get mowed or tilled ?

I agree, that material seems very strong. The area she found it in was a sandy area of a gravel bar that slopes up toward the bank. There is not really any grass or anything but some scrubby growth that we don’t mow or till. The area is left very natural and woodsy. Do you have any idea what type of lithic material it might be? I assume there is no way to identify the point without the base?

Pretty material, and good for your friend. Good to see you back again, Bear.

Id say it probably falls into the same area as the other finds you have had Archaic most likely. Good to see you sharing and finding

Nice find ! It looks like it would have been triangular in shape, and that it is just missing a base corner, rather than the whole base. It doesn't look like a typical triangular woodland era spear or arrow point to me, because it looks like it might be thicker than those type points usually are. I would guess that it might have been a triangular shaped scraping tool? It is a pretty material whatever we might call it. From the photos I can't tell if it is sort or grey or sort of green or both. It does remind me some of that cool material that the first point you posted here is made of. You have an interesting site there, and a new hunt buddy to help you search it. HH
