went out today at a spot i found nothing but an old bullet yesterday,after two hours of not one beep today i started talking to myself out loud this place sucks and asked my dog if he had enough,still waving the detector as im talking,and finally got a one way beep and tought more than likely junk i was wrong,out of the ground came a very green coin,but i could c the date 1796 went home and took the battery terminal cleaner to it with a tooth brush and here she is.hogge im waiting for your call

Just by what I see, it is a Large Cent and not a 1796 Half Cent The Liberty Cap is too close to the edge and the 6 of the date too close to the bust to be the Half Cent from that year. 1796 Large Cents had high relief and often come out of the ground in decent shape, a great year to find~ Congrats.

It's a Largie. I had a chance to look at it last night because I thought it might be a 1/2 cent. As soon as he put it in my hand I could tell. Too big and heavy. It still books as $140 in AG-3, which it is. Definitely NOT G-4.
