A lovely sunny day to be out for 4 hours on my own. I continued my gridding of the middle & lower section of the field.
Another pleasing result, with a find I was hoping to get from here (and said as much to Land-Mag on day 1) - a pipe tamper - they don't turn up too often!

17th C Pipe Tamper:icon_thumright:
A Bell - only had 2 previous complete ones & this is the largest
Crotal Bell still rings
Nice Georgian Furniture piece with a hunting scene8-)
1806 Penny
17th C Spoon Bowl (with 'Rose' stamp)
Nice shoe buckle
Bits...

This is my last post of 2012 with exactly 500 hours of hunting time.

Nice assortment Cru, and I love that pipe tamper. With all the pipe stems and bowls I've been digging over here I've been hoping a tamper turns up. But nothing yet. Good luck to you in 2013.

Great Finds Cru!!!!

Happy hunting

I remember IP saying that he has yet to find one & I can't remember anyone posting one from your side (maybe 1 but not sure).

I only have about 6 or 7 & this is another new type for me.

Anyone State side had one?

The pipe tamper is pretty cool. I personally never found one... A nice shoe buckle for the collection and the ornamented bell is very nice too!

They seem to be fairly scarce, maybe something they looked after or maybe only the rich could afford & the poor used a ?

My friend Stan dug one from the same trash pit we were digging in yesterday. I'll see if I can get a pic of it and post it here. He also dug (the same day I think) a beautiful domestically produced red clay pipe bowl with a gorgeous gazelle design on it (see pic below). We think it may have been made by a slave living on the premises. What do you think?

Very crude design (but nice), not British from what I can tell. Can't really help much, as its the first one I've seen.
