Hi Folks,

The weather warmed up and ground thawed enough for me to get out twice. Hit my old camp meeting grounds I have been detecting since 2007. Amazes me how I keep pulling stuff out of here. Found 3 Indians 1898,1888 and a 1860 Fattie which someone tried to put a hole in. Two Shield Nickels 1867,18--
and a 1858 Canadian 5 cent silver which is the same size as our U.S. half-dime. I believe this was the first year of mint for these. Also got a little silver pin (Cira- 1890-1910) with the markings CMR Sterling on the back which stands for Charles May Robbins. Found a gold plated ring which is still gold on the inside but worn off the front. Also got what appears to be part of a copper pin or broach? and finally an old shotgun shell case and some sort of bullet. Did not show all the old Iron stove parts, 2 railroad spikes along with pieces of busted glass and crockery I found.
Thanks for Looking
Mike

Nice diggins....keep it up!

Finding those first issues of the Canadian coins is tough for us up north, you're making it look easy

That little Vicky fishscale is pretty nice - I think you're right first year of issue ! Nice finds .

One 1858 large cent is all I got for that year, so damn right they're tough!

Luvin the 1898 IH. Canadian 5cent piece is cool too

Love the indians and fish scale. Hate nickels they're always toasted here too

Thanks for the views and comments. Ironhorse and Iron patch i didn't know the first year of the canadian 5 cent piece was that hard to find thanks.

Great finds, congrats!

Yep, first year on the fish scale. By mintage its not the toughest date in the series, but there were only 1.5 million minted. Finding any fish scale is a accomplishment anyway, but I'd assume that there are very few 1858's found. Very nice find.
