Got a large hit on my MD, the display jumped all over the place, so i dug and dug then broke my shovel!
At first when I started to uncover it I thought it was a statue! It is very heavy I believe it's cast iron.

Walked the bank and found a 2" pipe about 200 yards away, I returned and pried this out of the ground!

Osage: that is very plausible, there use to be an amusement park back in 1930? Nearby. Perhaps it was used to couple a train like you suggested or there was also a wooden roller coaster.

It does resemble a "knuckle" connector for a railcar. It should have numbers and a foundry name cast into it somewhere I'd think. That would greatly help in the ID.

It was to big and heaved to bring back in a kayak.
I left it there, the river tide will wash it off until I return sometime in the future.
