Started the weekend off at a well known beach with several shipwrecks off shore. More than likely a lot more that is undocumented. I went there after the first storm and recovered a KG II half penny. We figured after the fourth nor'easter it might be a good idea to check the sand conditions. At first I was disappointed, we didn't see much erosion just a few beach ponds. After swinging 3 hours only pulling out modern change we switched tactics and hit a hotspot of heavies. First signal my buddy got was semi-weak but deep, after removing 6 inches it became a screamer. Around 15 inches down was a 8 cob. We checked the surrounding area and I recovered a 1775 KG III half penny. :headbang: I love these coins.

Day 2 we decided to go back to a private permission, one of our nasty iron infested Civ sites. All the rain and snow did good, there was a few surface finds. I mainly stayed in one little area working real slow through all the iron and burnt debri. I ended up with 2 clay marbles 1 glass, clay pipe broken, brass skeleton key, several buttons 2 eagles, a few 19th C. buckles and 1 suspender buckle. The best find of the day was this almost perfect Confederate Snake buckle. :hello2: It was missing the keepers but I found one iron keeper just a few feet away. I am soo excited to add this beauty to the collection. This season is coming to a end quick. I have noticed some farms already being prepped for seeding. I had a blast with some good people. Thanks for looking GL & HH

Third snake this week...Super nice finds!!!!!

Really wonderful bunch of finds! Those coins are in great shape too, given their age. I'd say you had a couple of fantastic days.

Snakes starting to come out isn't even funny. Because I don't want one ambushing me! :laughing7: We have matching snakes!
Here's one I got in January. How funny is that! Remember this one? There are numerous types out there. IMG_0689.webp I call these the happy snakes. I put a little too much clearcoat on mine.

Wish I had a snake...you know what I mean...lol

That's funny. I guess it is time for the snakes to start coming out. Thanks Lairmo
I was talking about smokeythecat's finds.....check'em out

Stellar hunts and a "blast with some good people".

Well done and then some then.

waaaaaaahhhhhhh

Your snake looks nicer than my snake! I call this one the "happy snake". It has a stupid grin on it's face. A few years ago I found a keeper, the ring end. I had two dealers try to buy it off of me. I guess they are hard to come by.

Thank you Silvermonkey. It took a little cleaning to get those coins looking like that. Crusty and pitted

Everyone, please look at the item by itself in the third picture. It looks like a crown on the brass. Shape reminds me of a sword hanger. Anyone have any ideas? Really cool.

That's what I thought it was. Need to identify the crown. Its made very well heavy, thick, brass

That snake buckle is so AWESOME! ...and shipwreck coins?? Come on.... you guys who are so deep in history are living the life :occasion14:

Fantastic hunt. I could end my season with one like that!

What I don't and should show is all the trash and iron pulled out of these locations. Buckets. Also gas/ toll receipts, miles put on vehicles, sometimes a sickday from work LOL Is it worth it? HECK YEA
