A friend saw my only flying eagle cent, dug on a battlefield. Barely recognizable.

He said, "I've got one the same year, and it's a lot better than THAT old thing. You can HAVE it."

I explained to him that it had collector value, especially in THAT condition (Pretty fine except for the tiny punch holes??). He said, "I want you to know what yours DID look like." I said, "OK, if you INSIST . . . "

yes but even though its in rough shape your old worn out coin has "history" being a battlefield find.. nice of him to give you a "holded" coin --being holed tends to ruin its collecters value " btw but its was still a nice thing to do

Whatever the value of the coin, that sort of Friend is priceless. God bless him.

That's pretty cool

I wish someone would force one of those on me. Pity they only made them 3 years and bless him for being generous.

Still looking for my first of that type cent here, might never happen but will keep hunting and maybe someday :occasion14:

Now that was nice.
Both have Stories to tell.

Your friend was quite generous- it sure is in nice shape! They will look good displayed together. :)

Even with the 2 punches, what do you guys think the value is? those 1857's are NOT CHEAP
Congratz!

PARRSON NEAT FLYING EAGLE YOU HAVE . EVEN ROUGH DOSENT MATTER . THE HISTORY AND A NICE FREIND TO GIVE YOU ANOTHER IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT.. I GAVE MY NEPHEW ONE THAT MY MOTHER FOUND AT THE HOMESTEAD WHERE SHE WAS BORN IT WAS A 1857 EAGLE AND IT WAS IN DAMN GOOD SHAPE.
