Got out for a bit today and my second signal of the day was a no date (s) Standing Liberty quarter. I was quite stoked, it was the first one I had ever found. Unfortunatly I dont have my digital camera anymore so I cant post pictures until I buy a new one....HH.....Bill

WTG, I am still waiting for my first silver quater. I bet it was a nice little rush. Congrats

Finding an SLQ isn't easy and a dated one is even harder. Congrats!

Nice find! Type I or II? Any mintmark?

Congrats on your silver, Bill! 8) Hope ya find a bunch more this year.

Nana :)

Ok lol im a Civil War relic hunter, and dont know much about coins, someone mentioned Type 1 or 2 and the mint mark. The mint mark is S, but how do you tell if its type 1 or 2?

The type 1 was only made in 1916 and 1917, and it was, well, a bit racey. Lady Liberty was sporting a bare breast. The design was changed in 1917 due to public outcry. Liberty was then clothed in a coat of mail armor. Here's a link to view the Type 1:

Here's a link to a type 2:

On the type 2, I believe they also lifted the eagle a bit on the reverse and moved 3 of the side stars down just underneath it.

Yes on the stars.
If there are stars under the eagle it's type 2

late 1917 or newer.

no stars type 1... 1916 or early 1917

Congrats by the way ;D

That's a sweet find, Weapons. I'd be stoked to.

Congrats on your first SLQ, I've found many without a date and usually the ones with dates are very nice looking!!

Good deal. First couple years I found zero SLQ's. Last 12 months - 5 SLQ's. Only one had a date. Even that was barely.

Enjoy. :)
