For my own education... What made you start digging there? Looks like you just picked a grassy hillside and went to town.

Good question Bob this gulch has been worked before the main gulch shows evidence of mining most likely from the 1800s. The gulch I'm working is a feeder to that gulch and looked virgin to me so I dug a test hole and found color.
Hope that helps

You must have an old channel somewhere upstream carrying those river rocks. That would be worth checking out if it's carrying gold. It might be your source.
The gold I'm finding is very rough and has not traveled very far so I don't think its from a river channel -- there are some old mines up the hill and that might have been the source.
I'm still scratching my head about the river rocks.

Unless they are glaciel rounded rocks but they look like river rocks. Not sure if it's been glaciated there but I've never read about it. Your area is common for having old water channels discovered in the weirdest places tho....the gold could be from the mines above like you said but the rocks? That sounds interesting.

Panned out cons from the video 9.9 grams of -30 with a few +30 here the take.

Cheers Mike

9.9 grams...about ten times my drywasher take this fall from my diggings from a hole that is at most a tenth the size of yours. Maybe if the rains hold off I can get another 0.10 or so more this year.:icon_scratch:
