Our plan on this windy day was to do one site in the morning & another site after lunch.
We did 3 hours 15 minutes gridding on the Shot Gun Alley site & got 18 Scrappies.
OTWBTTC I deviated from my set course, to jump the ditch & try the next field. When I got to the ditch it was too deep & wide to jump, so I made my way down the edge that I was going to avoid because of all the recent ditch clearing rubbish. Got a loud signal that I assumed was going to be ali & it was the Hammered.:icon_thumright:
Henry VI Groat, Calais Mint 1422-27 (I only have one Groat of Henry VI but its a London, so I need this one & any Groat is a tough find)

After lunch we crossed the road to do The Trackway Site which is an Early Saxon to Middle Saxon Site. Although it does have a little from most periods, including Roman because of the associated site down the slope.
Had a further 8 Roman Coins.

The other finds for the day (7 hrs in total) were:

Large 17th C Button (type I need)
18th C Navy Button
Royal Farthing
Frag. of a Medieval Pilgrims Ampulla
Frag. of Medieval Casket Key
Roman Pin-Head
Saxon Strap-end
Saxon Wrist Clasp

To get 3 Roman Coins that are pierced in one day is pretty good, as the Archie decribe 1 of them as ''Signficant Historical Interest''.

Congrats on the Groat.

Always love to see what you coax out of the ground.

Which of the pierced ones was of ''Signficant Historical Interest''? The two holer?

The hard work paid off - congrats on the great finds !

All of them, are considered rare & significant by the Archies. However, the 2 holed ones that we have had a couple of are much rarer than the single holed ones. Not sure if they made bracelets out of them or the reason why two?

Thanks for the additional info on the coins since most of what I find resembles the majority of the pull tabs found on "The Detectorists".LOL

I did see a funny older movie yesterday that reminded me of your team and this thread specifically.
Can anyone guess what the movie was? Yep, it was "Groat Busters". Who ya gonna call?
