I would think after Rita would be a great time dont know when they would let anyone in there the sooner the better, I saw a weather reporter this morning that said the beach had already erroded about a foot, any old gold coins would be deep
 

I would have thought just the opposite...erosion of beach sand removes it doesnt it...thus making it easier to access stuff that was previously deeper.
 

Your correct. Erosion does remove the sand and make the deeper coins shallow. It also creates cuts where the sand is washed away even deeper and like objects may "pool" with like objects.
