I don't actively look for Indian artifacts as much as I used to and in fact any I find now while metal detecting i give to my oldest son who has a much better collection than I do and he also marked and identified a lot of mine over the years so it will be his collection some day anyway. :)

I just wanted to show to those interested in points and scrapers that I have found in the Southern New Jersey region, which by all accounts never had any major year round villages but more of summer/fall camps for gathering food, but that is up to debate about year round living.

Anyway, here are some photos of stuff I have amassed over the years from my local area, if anything catches your eye and would like to see a better close-up just let me know and I will do so.

Cool Cool Cool!!! FINALLY, someone who's finding stuff like I am out here! And, yes, there ARE paleo items out here-- as a matter of fact, just 2 days ago, I found what I think is the closest to a Clovis I've ever found-- not ground and re-worked to death, anyway. I nearly fell over, but the pluff mud was too deep and too cold ;). Those are some fascinating stones there. The second one is very curious- nearly sculptural, but I'm sure that's just an anomoly. I've found a pecked and partially ground celt-- I call it 'the birth of a celt'. There's more out here (in this general area) than many folks know. Often several/many generaltions and cultures/tribes despite the wide range of water-levels and temperatures.
Good luck with whatever you happen across- and thanks so much for your show n' tell! And three cheers for your son- labeling and putting your collection in order!

It looks like you have some very old stuff in there.

I was curious about the outlined pieces below. Are you finding Clovis materials out there?

I will try and remove those two points from the frame and do some closeups, I really do not remember what they are, perhaps my son knows, if they are numbered than he has a record of what it is and where found. But all were found in Southern New Jersey except the shaft smoother and sinew stone, they came from Berks County, Pa.

Plehbah, here are two closer photos of each point, I did not take them out of the case so the photos are not as good as I would have liked, but hope they show more detail.
