There is a place I just started hunting a couple months ago. Was a community with a school house etc. Was getting different stories where everything was located. So I call this elerly gentleman who grew up there. He is eighty seven years of age and still active and works in his yard everyday.........He begins to tell me where everything was located. So I ask him if I could come get him and he could show me in person. I told him that the weeds are to thick to hunt in places. He says no problem, he will bring his weed eaters and he would take care of the weeds while I work the detector......cant beat a deal like that!......maybe the passerbys will think both of us are weed eating and it wont look like elderly abuse....lol.

With one like that may sure you spit half of your finds with him or take him out for dinner.....Matt

I love hearing stories like this....what a duo you guys are going to make! And, yes, take good care of the old timer, and you might even put a detector in his hand too....you are so fortunate, so appreciate it as you would a priceless treasure....the old timer IS a priceless treasure! SushiDog

Many of our members probably miss the boat by not talking to our elder citizens. Many of them are really interesting people with a keen mind. Besides, they love company. You can learn a lot and make an elderly person very happy to have a new friend. Monty

the elderly can be a warehouse full of information on locations of places and of many other things of interest -- often they can and will be willing to "assist" you in researching things and such --to help prevent boredom -- helps perk up their day and gives you free help to boot --who knows his info locked in his head might be a treasure in its self.
