silent search feature opinions

is it better not to use silent search. i heard with silent search a really weak signal might not break the threshhold to give you a signal. but with a constant threshold you have a better chance in noticing a slight change over a deep target. what do you think makes sense?

They call it a Threshold as it is a slight hum and any signal that breaks the settings of the threshold will respond with a higher tone that you can hear. If the dohickie was set up silent, the signal might not come through enough where you would hear it.

I know a gal that always finds very deep old targets. Her secret is to dig the "Almost a Sound," tones.
