Silver Chunk?

I found this at a 1700s home site. I'm not sure what metal it is, but it did read silver dollar on the metal detector. It weighs 3.7 pounds. Its approximately 4" wide, 5" high, and 1" thick. The piece of brass spike was in the same area. Thanks.

My first thought was that "NC" are the last two letters in "ZINC" :dontknow: ;D

that was my other thought :icon_thumright: it is more zinc looking I guess :dontknow:
