So today I went to a "Hunted out" park as they say. Found a couple more silvers. 2 very nice condition rosies and one nice 44 wheat. But gosh darn it I want a mercury. I know most of you guys laugh at the mercury dimes but for some reason I have never found one.. lol

Oh well I will get one sooner or later.. Still a great day getting out after the trying last week.. Beautiful Day here in CA.. 75* with tons of sun!!

Nice finds, keep at it that merc will come!

Silver is silver and it's all good! Keep swinging, you'll dig a merc before long.

The Merc will show up shortly. If you are finding wheaties (and silver Rosies), you are in the right place. Just hang in there. Congrats on the two silvers!

Keep digging, it will come. Nice two silvers.

in the same boat, all we can do is to keep digging

Merc dimes are very good finds especially key and semi key $$$..

I've found tons of Mercs and each one is still exciting to me. Same with Rosies. You'll will find yours!

Enjoy the warm WX

Whats crazy about Mercs I find...they seem to be in amazing shape..mainly the older ones....the only ones I have found that were sorta worn were the ones minted in the 40s...

Newbie says que? Thx in advance.

I'm going to guess here that you are asking about the meaning of "key and semi key" dimes. "key date" coins are those which have extremely low mintages which makes them very expensive and very rare. They are the ones that all collectors are wanting to fill out their collections, hence they are the key to the collection. Semi-key coins are low mintages but not as rare as the key-date for that variety (although they can still be very valuable).

Yes, the Mercury Dime has eluded me too! Most silver coins have eluded me. :<

Well I will give it another try today. A merc needs to be uncovered I am sure!!

You'll find one soon! I looked back at my Merc and Rosie counts since I got back into detecting in 2009. Funny to see the switch in which design was prevalent as a find in that year.

2009
Merc 12
Roosevelt 18

2010
Merc 20
Roosevelt 19

2011
Merc 23
Roosevelt 15

2012
Merc 59
Roosevelt 32

2013
Merc 38
Roosevelt 17

2014
Merc 16
Roosevelt 4

They actually do seem to be a special find for most of us on T-net - took me a year or more to find my first merc.

I actually find more Mercury dimes than Rosies around here. Mercs are one of my favorite coins to find. Barbers and Seateds are the ones that I struggle to find.

Well no merc today but a Buffalo!!
