This came up solid repeating mid 80s on my AT pro. Could it possibly be silver?

Aluminum... it rings up nice and high too.

I got about two dozen of them. GL&HH!

Is it light, like aluminum or heavy, like copper? Looks like aluminum to me.

A soda can will ring up like that also it looks like aluminum

Or maybe brass.

Oh it's aluminum... it is (was) anodized red... you can see it through the dirt.

Aluminum, and copper ring up that high to.

Not silver, still a cool find..

found a rabies tag today, rang up the same, had me excited for a moment

That's a great find no matter the metal. Congratulations!

Silver or no silver - still a nice find! Thanks for sharing...

Only real way of know is to buy some silver testing solution. Put a drop on the corner. If it turns green or yellow than it is probably aluminum. If it turns dark brown or reddish then it is silver. It will also brighten aluminum and have little or no effect on silver.

Or put a drop of muriatic acid (common pool acid) on it... if its silver there will be no reaction but on that it will sizzle and smoke.
It's just your ordinary garden variety aluminum name tag from a dog collar
