It was 19 degrees when I stepped out of truck this morning. You could only dig in sunny places, because the ground is frozen in the shade. That just never happens here. It never got above freezing today.

That didn’t stop P@tch, Kurtstuben and I from going hunting! And it was a good decision, because within 15 minutes, all of us had silver.

I got a cool Cub Scout medal. Some kid was bummed at the loss of this item. I like BSA items.

This was my second target. I placed it on a wheatie, to show you how small it is. It weighs .5 grams, and you know how small a half gram is! I almost threw it away, but a quick lick and close look seemed to indicate silver.

Once home, I cleaned it up, and sure enough, it’s marked STERLING. It’s a charm in the shape of a pocketbook.

When the dirt came out of this hole, it had a shiny coin in it.

P@tch had 3 silver coins, so this was a sight for sore eyes. Just a 46 Rosie, but I’m thankful for any silver coin. I also found a dozen wheaties. Silver coin 27 from this spot, in less than a month. Ouch.

I’ve been trying to dig more mid tones at the Honey Hole in hopes that a gold ring will show up. I have dug a ton of pull tabs and can slaw, but no gold rings... until today.

This sounded like a nickel but looked like a little gold ring. A close examination revealed a 1.7 gram 14K gold band.

Here it is with the 5 nickels I dug looking for it, and a shot of the 14k mint mark. Only my fourth gold item in 4 years.

Yeah it was cold, but I’ll do it again tomorrow.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

You're a monster. I think I'd pass at 19 degrees outside. Well done CT!

Way to score that low tone GOLD buddy. Another silver coin and cool charm in Sterling. Great little hunt in the cold. Well done.:headbang:

Fantastic! Two golds in two days. NICE

Tom, these are the days that we remember, Three PM's in frigid weather, now that is a feat! Congrats, and yest the pull tab-to-gold ring ratio is about 1,000 to 1, newbies take note. Sub 8-)

My pulltab to gold ring ratio, at this site is 190:2!

pure unadulterated LUCK. My program is called "Blind Squirrel" for a reason. If it beeps, I dig it. I pray a lot too.

I will not soon forget this weekend. Thanks Sub.
