Ok. After searching 15 banks and searching $140 in cwr's and less than $10 in loose halves yesterday I managed to score 1 "64 Kennedy while also putting in a day's work with my job so I was happy with that.
Today I thought I would search some more banks in another part of town where I was going to be working. And I decided to drive slightly out of my way to check a few banks I haven't searched in a while - and I'm sure glad I did.
I bought $91 in cwr's and loose halves from a teller at one bank who said she was happy to get rid of them. A few minutes later I stopped at a dump bank down the street and was able to take a look at the halves I had just bought. I found a 40%er in the $11 loose halves so I was happy with that. Then I started searching the 8 rolls and after a couple of rolls of clads I opened a roll that had tape on both ends and to my surprise - THE ENTIRE ROLL WAS SOLID SILVER - ALL FRANKLINS & WALKING LIBERTY'S - WOW WAS I A HAPPY HUNTER! Then after a couple of more mostly clad rolls - I opened another SOLID ROLL OF ALL FRANKLINS AND WL'S. Then a roll or two later - ANOTHER ROLL OF SOLID SILVER. So I found a total of 3 solid rolls of Franklins and WL's and 3 40%ers and 1 NIFC 2004 I found in the other rolls and loose coins. An amazing score from just a $91 search.
And all but a couple of the WL's have full rims and all have clear dates and should grade VG or better except one (a '36 partial date which would probably grade G). Sorry I don't have a camera so I can't give pics - I know a score like this really deserves some nice pics - but here's my list of finds:
Roll 1 (12 BF's & 8 WL's):
BF's: '62D, '61D, '60D, '58D (2), '57D, '54, '53D, '51D (3), '51
WL's: '45 (3), '44S, '43, '42S, '42, '41
The '42S is the nicest looking coin of the lot (probably grades VF+/XF) I've already put it in a 2x2 holder.
Roll 2 (5 BF's & 15 WL's):
BF's: '63D, '61D, '58D, '54D, '51S
WL's: '46S, '46, '45S, '44D, '44S, '42D, '42 (3), '41, '39D, '39, '36 (2), '35
The '46S has a mintage of 3,724,000 and probably grades VG
The '39D has a mintage of 4,267,800 and is the 2nd nicest looking coin (probably grades VF) and I've already put this one in a 2x2 also
The '35 is a nice looking coin also - probably grades F+/VF
Roll 3 (all BF's):
'63D, '62D, '61D (4), '60D (2), '59D, '58D (4), '54D (3), '54, '53S, '53D, '52D
And a '66, '67, '76S - which I am 99.9% sure is silver (looks proof) and a 2004D NIFC.
Like I said above - amazing score from just a $91 search.
And I've been saying I haven't scored my first WL yet (until today) - well I sure scored big with them today.
And I was just thinking that this month is the 2 year anniversary of when I scored a solid roll of Franklin's in Sept 2009 which really got me interested in CRHing on a regular basis - though I usually just search CWR's and loose halves.
Finding silver @ face is ooooohh so great! HH!
