silver hallmark id

Looking for some info on this silver I recently picked up. This pie server matches a bunch of teaspoons I also have.

I cant seem to find anything on the hallmarks. Could they be "pseudo-hallmarks"? Possibly silver plate?

Try American silversmith Albert Cole...I think it matches. I can't post the link to the site where I found it, It locks my computer for some reason.So here's one from ebay.

Newbie question...what is coin silver?

Before Sterling or 925 was adopted as a mark of purity in the U.S. the stamp COIN was used. It was derived from the practice of melting down silver coins to make the silver ware.

So, sterling is .925 pure silver. Coin silver's pure silver content is based on what coins were melted. If it was US coinage, the silver is .900 pure. If it was Canada coinage, .800 pure, etc.

Here is a fish server that was purchased along with the pie server in my original post. Any chance this piece is by the same maker? Unfortunately, the hallmarks have since worn away.

Maybe it's just an unmarked piece of coin silver? It wasn't uncommon. Any trace evidence of any kind of a mark left on it anywhere?
