Coleman Lantern

I got this for $10.00 last weekend . It's never been used . I think it's a 1957 or a 1975 . I took the top of it and it has instructions , paperwork , & mantels .

That model was only made between 1952 and 1963 according to this- How to Date your Coleman&#174: Lantern or Stove: Old Town Coleman about 1/3 the way down the page is the date chart. Nice, darn near 60 year old lantern new in the box. :icon_thumright:

If memory serves me correctly, the date is on the bottom of the tank.

Yes. Bottom of tank will have a single digit (month) and then a double digit (year).

Yes , this one has a 7 (July) on the left , and just a 5 on the right . plus there ere blobs of paint runs . I read on a web site that sometimes too much factory paint would obscure the date . Maybe the worker was drinking or was high on fumes :tongue3:

Brings back memories of night fishing with my daddy. He's had one like that. The netting mantels would always disintegrate, my dad would cuss up a storm
