Saturday I was working in the drive-through at a local fast food restaurant. As I was taking the money from a young lady, I heard a strange "chink" sound. Sure enough, when I looked in my hand there was a 1964 silver quarter! I lost no time in making change in the drawer and scooping that quarter right up. This was very exciting for me as I have not even found any silver detecting yet.

Great job on spotting it!!!!

i recently had a similar experience at the video rental store down from my house. i paid for the rentals and the man gave me change and i heard that all too familiar chink sound...i looked down and saw too silver washington quarters in my hand. the cool thing was that before he gave me change, he broke open this roll of quarters. i immediately asked him to give me as many quarters as he could in exchange for dollar bills. he said "i can olny give you $ 5.00 in quarters", i said " thats fine with me". everyone he gave me in exchange was washington silvers !!!

I have discovered that often people who are passing old coins pass more than one at a time. Myself and my ex both worked for a fast food joint and looked every day for silver. Almost every time we found any, we found that there were usually at least 2-3 coins. It's as if maybe some kid has gotten into daddy's stash and took his coins and then went to buy some fries. That's been many years ago. So these days if I get a silver coin, I ask the cashier to make some more change for me. It has worked a couple times and I have ended up with a couple silver quarters. One day about 4 months ago I got two quarters in change that both looked like they had been stolen from a collection. I say this because they were both in excellent condition and shined like new. One was a '59 and the other a '53. I was born in '53 so I really treasured that find. I just fell bad for the guy who got ripped off.

Silver is silver...take it any way you can get it...I work in retail so I know what you mean...I have a buddly who works in the cash office and watches out for me...he has gotten me a few goodies...
