Is there a place on this site that I can educate myself on what a cob is and why at times I see pics of what seems to be coins cut in triangulate shape.

Way back in time 18th century & before many round coins were cut to ½ & ¼ to be called half cents, half dimes, etc. Lots are found in Britain & Europe.

yes there is, type in spanish cob or click on the forum tab on the top of the page and go about a quarter of the way doen and look under the treasure hunting part of the site and the second subject down is Spanish Cobs. HH
