Hello everyone, I have an item here that I was wondering if anyone mite have a clue as to what it could be

I know it's a shot in the dark probably. But here goes, it was found in an early site, items from mid 1700s to mid 1800s, it is silver slightly curved, and has 2 holes it it. It is approx 3/4 of an inch long and 1/2 wide.

Apon close inspection it seems to have a design around the outside that resembles the "reating" around the outer edges of a 1 reale, could it possibly be a reale that someone hammered out to use as decoration for something. Probably never know, but a neat peice all the same. I don't believe my camera will be able to highlight the "reating" I am describing, sorry about that.

yeah looks like a One Reale. People do all kinds of strange things to coins! Here's one example I found about 10 years ago.

Have you got a scale that you could compare the weight with the reale?

It was originally a Navajo design. Often times linked silver ovals attached to a leather backing.
There are many styles, some with holes like yours. Other cultures had similar items, but the concho term is generally Navajo.

Here is a better pic of the edge of the object next to the reale. If you look close at the bottom edge between 5 and 6 o'clock, you can see what resembles the edge of a flattened coin.

Maybe I'm just seeing what my mind wants to see. I'd say a definite possibility that's all.

There also is a chance it could have been on a piece of horse tack ?

The holes look to me like screw holes. That would favour the idea that it is a plate which had been inlet and screwed into a pistol grip or rifle stock.
