silver ring vintage? maybe cival war button or badge ? 1852

hello found this old badge or button at an very old park, the badge has looks to be 1852,on the horn the silver ring i found in the same field it looks vintage also,any help on the button would be great, thanks

Ring: doesn't look old, but from the photo, it looks like a opal. It's in good shape.

Button: recent blazer button, brass with a steel back.

I would have to say glass instead of opal on the ring.
Opal would probably be degraded or dissolved.

i'm not quite sure i agree on the opal dissolving... they find them in the dirt don't they ?

I have a ring just like it. I dont think it is opal or glass, i think it is mother of pearl. I could be wrong but i think it is MOP.
