Ring: doesn't look old, but from the photo, it looks like a opal. It's in good shape. :icon_thumright:

Button: recent blazer button, brass with a steel back.

Can't help on the ring but Lucas and 4-H are right about the button. 1900's blazer button

I would have to say glass instead of opal on the ring.
Opal would probably be degraded or dissolved.

i'm not quite sure i agree on the opal dissolving... they find them in the dirt don't they ?

I have a ring just like it. I dont think it is opal or glass, i think it is mother of pearl. I could be wrong but i think it is MOP. :laughing7:
