No pic but I can include one later. BUT I want to know who's idea it was to take a Liberty Quarter Dollar and hammer/dremmel/file it into a ring =( AHHHH I was so happy at first to be getting my first ever ring and I could see it had writing inside. Then I get home and those were the words I read. I hit google and here are the directions all over about how to do this using silver coins.
:sadsmiley:
I would have just rather have found the coin...

All I can say is thankfully I can't see the date lol So hopefully they just used one from the 60's

A Liberty Quarter from the 60's ? :icon_scratch: OK, now we have to have pics ! ??? Try and get a macro pic of the letters on the inside, I'm sure someone can name the exact coin used... :headbang:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

No have no clue on the date. I was just thinking in general silver coins and them ending in 1964, so just thinking hopefully it was a newr coin than an older one. Don't know the years of Liberty Quarters lol just ignore that comment all together. But yes when I get back later will post a pic.

Ok I just googled the dates...and I can leave home feeling either more educated or extremely stupid =P

Lol, I'd look at it as educated, cause my intentions were to educate not insult. :icon_thumright:

Those rings are really cool if they are done right. Nice find! It's worth more as a ring than a coin in my opinion.

Eep I took the pics and now I can see a date...1920?? perhaps. I will say I would rather have the coin as I do not have one yet =( But I agree this is still kinda cool (edit the photos dont seem to be working?)

I'm really sad I can't see the images, :sadsmiley: been a problem today I guess with photos... :dontknow: I hope they fix it soon this is very exciting, I can't wait to see the ring.

I tried to open the pics but to no avail - I'd really like to see this

Can't wait to see pics. I'd love to find a coin ring!

Sadly it is no where near as cool looking as the ones I see on ebay. This is totally smooth on the outside with just the lettering on the inside. Will post as soon as pics are back to working.

Vandaria , can you put up a pic now that pics are working ? I'd really like to see this ring ! Thank You !!!

As you wish =D
***of for some reason it still isn't working, I just changed the pics to GIF from Jpg to see if that will work cuz another image I tried worked..I am confused now lol*** ring.gif
ringb.gif

IT WORKED..and sorry the ring isn't as cool as others like it...but it was a first for me =) Never knew you could do such a thing!

I am still unsure why the GIF worked and not the JPG? Did everything the same? I changed the name of the files even in case they saved to here corrupted or something from before. :dontknow:

Thank you for the pics ! Now I want to know whether it was made in the 20's -30's , or was it made 20 years ago or less ? Not
likely to get that bit of info ! Tell me please , a bit more about the environment this was dug in - old park? homesite ? deep /shallow
that kind of thing . On youtube you can find the two distinct methods of making coin rings - 1. no design on the outside of the ring ,
2. design remains on both inside and out . (I made one using a 64 Kennedy half )

Sure thing! It's an old farm house about 10 minutes out from town (but keep in mind "town" for here is 1700 ppl...our county has 1 stoplight hehe) The current owner says their family has owned it for the last 70 years. It is most likely a late 1800's early 1900's farm tho. No one currently lives there as they are putting it along with 220 acres of land up for sale so til then I get free hunting. Feels like someone is watching me from the house tho and being way out there is kinda extra creepy hehe

I dug it from the front of the yard right next to an area that I am guessing at one point was landscaped/gardened. Atm there are houses making a sorta boundary around this place and the inside is just barren dirt. This was just on the outside of said boundary tho it's hard to say exactly how deep it was as something has been tunneling there so my digger almost disappeared on me. I was a bit hesitant to stick my hand in there =D So it was in there maybe 8 inches but out of that 8 a good 4-5 was just empty space. I pretty much figure someone was wearing it then went out to do a bit of gardening and lost it.

Hope that helps =)
