I met Tnetter, Kurtstuben this morning. We went to a spot where we rarely find anything good. It was cold and windy... and we were getting discouraged. Luckily for us, Smittyman called and alerted us to a new spot. Said he found wheaties there, and that we ought to go by and give it a try.

We headed out.

I cheated and stopped on the way. It was a 40 square foot spot that had just been cleared. The hunch paid off with a ‘51 Rosie.

Smittyman’s permission was at least an acre of grassy front yard, unfortunately not that old, but we were just happy to be invited. Here is a pic of Kurtstuben getting after it.

I found this aluminum “pretzel” but wasn’t sure what it was. It says: Purity, Body and Flavor on it. I just couldn’t imagine what these three attributes could be referring to, except, girls...

Turned out to be a 1950s golf ball marker made to advertise Ballantine Beer.

When I saw the back of this cuff button, I was sure it was going to be an eagle button. Turned out to be a Great Seal button. Still a decent find.

I managed to find a half dozen wheaties.

There wasn’t much trash so I was digging all of the targets. Three times during the 3 hour hunt, nice high tones rang in and the holes produced silver dimes.

This target didn’t sound very good, but as soon as I saw it, I knew it was silver.

Sterling St. Christopher medal. It’s a nice thick one with very little wear. Score.

Here is a pic of all of today’s keepers. It was a very good day for me. Thanks Smittyman!

Very nice hunt, congrats! :occasion14:

Great day of hunts, congrats on the silver saves but the marker is the coolest in my eyes. HH

Well done CT.
Just the Mercury would have made me happy.
Excellent hunt.
Congratulations

Wow, Tom you outdid yourself on this one! Those are incredible finds in your neck of the woods. I know from first hand experience. Great Job!

Thanks man. It’s a good spot, but not for much longer. Only an acre in size and won’t be available but a week or two, then new construction will begin. There is more there, hopefully Smittyman will get over there during the week.

awesome finds, silver like that and then very cool relics

Dang, Tom!! That's one heck of a load of silver......congrats!!

WTG Tom, that is a good way to start out the new year. Love the St. Christopher Medal. I have yet to find one made of silver. Does Smittyman get a cut of the finds? SD
