Silver Spoon Restoration Complete!

Hello All,

I dug the first part of this spoon at an old site here in Louisiana in 2015. Found the other half of it in the same field in 2019. This year I decided to have my master jeweler restore it. Im thrilled with the results. Below are before and after photos:

Ya, I am going to use this spoon for the first time. Almost feels weird, what should I eat with it? Gumbo? Oatmeal? Grits? Etouffe?

Nice indeed!. I take it you know it's a Gorham spoon in 'Cambridge' pattern, designed by William C. Codman in 1899. The same design was used by Alvin Corporation, and also by the Wm. B. Durgin Company (who called it 'English Rose') but the spoon has Gorham's mark as the gothic letter 'G'.

I didn’t know that, hadn’t gotten around to the research yet, so thank you redcoat! The spoon is quite small so I wonder if it was a gift from a godparent (strong Catholic faith here in Louisiana). This same field had pieces of two other small ornate children’s spoons in it, so I’m hoping to recover the rest of those too!

It strikes me as being a desert or sorbet spoon, so taking into account you found it in Louisiana, maybe some Bouillie Cake.
