Hi all......found this yesterday and cant seem to picture what it might have been attached to..

I think its silver but can see no markings which is why i think it comes from something bigger..

The front has what looks like a leaf design.....
The back is concave and has 2 pin holes either end where it was obviously attached.....
Seems to big to have been fixed on a ring and the shape of the back seems wrong which is why i'm thinking bracelet.....

Hi all, just to close this one off and for future reference i have had this ID'ed on another site by their finds officer....he agrees with SS in its a bar mount but puts the age around Victorian/edwardian...

His exact quote:
Victorian/Edwardian silver box mount, nice find.
Thanks again SS for the point in the right direction

Ok :icon_thumleft: I wonder why there's no Silver mark on there then, considering it's Vic/Edwardian :dontknow:

Do you have a link on bar mounts? Every time I hit your link, I get something different.

Try this link, it should take you straight to the mounts section....failing that maybe because its a uk finds database its somehow blocked for you?

OK I see it. But what is a bar mount?

There's no distinctive meaning for Bar Mount, it's just a fixing mount used on Dress leather, or chest accessories ect.
