Skipped the 1800's and went to 1700's

Hi all. Winter is coming so I am trying to get in as much hunting time as I can. I went back to the cornfield that gave me the '60 Roosevelt and the old roundball last week. The first inch of the ground was frozen after dipping into the 20's last night, but I was determined to get what I could. The first target was the larger ball. I finished that pass and made a couple more. The ATP gave me a good signal of 71 on the vdi and showed 2 inches. I turned the plug over and saw a large green coin. "Yes! A large cent. Closed out the season with an 1800's coin!" was my thought. I put it away in my pouch and made a few more passes, getting the small ball ( anyone else think it's a pistol ball? ), the bullet cartridge and shotgun headstamp. I got home and posted quick pics on What Is It sub forum and members have identified the coin as a George II half penny. I have done a little research and found it's a 1700's coin! My oldest prior to this was a 1902 V nickel, so you can imagine how happy I was with this hunt.

The round balls weigh 390 and 151 grains and are .611 inches and .477 inches diameter. Thanks for looking!

Congrats on the great find! You must have gotten the AT Pro, shortly after I did. At first, I had doubts about it but I have a few hundred hours on it now, some great finds and it is awesome. Good luck & HH

I have had the ATP about a month now, I think. I started finding coins right away at places I had hunted many many times with the older Garrett. I really like the detector, and I seem to be learning something each time I go out.
