Turned in $20 in nickels to my dump bank but was itching to get some halves so I went against what I should and picked up from my dump bank. Was such a hassle though. I had turned in the nickels and I asked for halves, they were in the vault. So I wanted 2 rolls to make it even swap. Girl had written on the slip that I had $19.75. So she needed a quarter to make up, so I'm like there was $20 there, she looked and there were my 5 nickels in the reject tray. Hopefully I didn't pass over anything good, doubt it but I wasn't asking to look.

So she gets me 2 rolls of halves, crimped ends so likely from whoever supplies their coins right? 40 halves not even one 40% silver. Quite a few 71s though. I'll have to notice what service they use. I believe it was a gray armored car outside.

So much for going against what I should be doing, I'll dump them back there and get back into a set routine regardless of the itch to get new coins.

Id be suprisred if you didnt get skunked with 2 rolls.

If it makes you feel better, I stopped counting on how many skunk $500 boxes of halves Ive gotten. Close to 20 in a row though. 50 rolls/box X 20 boxes = 1000 rolls of non-silver.

I'd rather have your 2 to my 1000. Thats why I stick to dimes in my city.

Stick to what works, and hit it hard!

Slowly trying to get a system. I guess I can't put this off as someones dump at least, because they were crimped rolls. Just bad luck. Maybe that was something telling me don't buy from the dump bank.

If I were you and the "dump" bank had them in the vault, I would find a new dump bank and unload the $20 in halves there and hit your original bank hard until you have exhausted their halve supply on hand. If they are MWR, you may just find a few silver that is otherwise just sitting in their vault. Good luck with whatever you do!

Also, if you can make a rapport with the teller there, you may be able to just re-roll your halves and turn back in to them for unopened rolls until you have searched them all.

My pickup bank will let me do that with dimes in clear wrappers, I just pick up a box, edge search it and then turn it back in for another unopened box until the only boxes left are the opened ones I have returned.

I looked through two thousand half dollar coins today and got skunked. A skunk still feels the same regardless of bankroll I suppose but if your only able to use $20.00 at a time your chances of finding anything will be severely limited by volume. Your basically betting on the lucky chance that a customer brought in silver coins not knowing what they were.

Well the dump bank actually didn't have them in the vault. The girl asked another teller if she had any. Was told in the vault, but they were actually somewhere near the managers desk.

I think from now on I'm going to stick to my main bank as my feeder, since I know them there, already got one of them looking for coins for me.

By the way what does MWR mean? I'm not up to tabs on all the terms and abbreviations. Is there a list somewhere to look at?

Machine Wrapped Rolls

Machine wrapped can either be in plastic or in sealed paper right? Open on both ends I mean.
