like one poster here, I started life with no electricity; no inside bathroom, house heater with pieces of trees. We got electricity when I was 10, and my parents did not get an indoor bathroom until I was nearly 40.
In 1974, I was one of the first people in my company to work on microprocessors. When I retired in the late 90's, we moved to rural Mexico, and I live in an unheated house. Well, there is a fireplace, but it is only used a few days a year and mostly for decoration. But, we have Internet; a jacuzzi which is seldom used because it uses too much water. Phone; microwave; refrigerator; gas cook stove; water you can't drink without boiling. A mixture of primitive and modern. Not an expensive way to live and I love it. I am back to the States for my annual visit and am extremely homesick. Life there is good. Yes, I know most would not like it. Different folks; different strokes.
