Couldn't find it in Cunningham's book on Michigan tokens (1st ed.), or in either Ruggeri's or Sena's maverick books.

You may wish to contact the editor of the Traverse City Herald and ask him if he can search (or give you electronic access) to his files for more historical references on Sleder Bros (and perhaps their token).

Looks like a pool hall token to me - what's on the other side? There are two other Sleder tokens from Traverse City on www.tokencatalog.com and I find that Louis W. Sleder was a saloon keeper at 717 Randolph St. in TC in 1910 and continued there as a pool room proprietor until at least 1918-20 and Andrew Sleder was a saloon keeper at 803 Bay St. in 1910 and continued there as a soft drink parlor proprietor until at least 1918-20. I can't tell for sure that they were brothers, but they were both born in Austria, came to the US in 1883, and were 6 years apart in age, so I would suspect they were. They may not have been partners when this token was made, but had an arrangement whereby each brother would honor it at his business. Or, they may have partnered for a time.

John's right twice. It would really be nice to see the other side.

Andrew Sleder had as saloon in Traverse City 1913-17.

Louis Sleder had a saloon in Traverse City 1899-1901 & 1909-13.

Vencl Sleder had a saloon in Traverse City 1897 & 1903-07.

Sleder Bros. are listed as a saloon in Traverse City only in the 1913 gazetteer.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm including a pic of the reverse.

Thank you for the picture of the reverse. Now I can add it to the list of known Michigan tokens. All I need now is the size. I'm guessing 25mm?
